Descrizione

The research aims to define a strategy to enhance anthropic territories in Campania, in particular, those characterised by degradation and prolonged abandonment through the integrated and compatible reutilization of natural and cultural resources.
Campania, chosen as a sample territory for its vast historical-architectural heritage, beautiful landscapes and the largest number of UNESCO sites, is also the second region in Italy for the number of thermal springs, most of which are disused or degraded. Yet, the sector of cures for physical well-being is one of the fastest growing and most productive in the economic budget of nations.
Starting from the history of the territory, combined with the analysis of its socio-economic and cultural characteristics, as well as its material and immaterial values, the Campania’s thermal system will be studied as a possible driver of future policies to enhance the territory, with a view to sustainable development.
Working in multidisciplinary synergy, we will proceed to: catalogue and document existing thermal heritage in Campania; envisage the recovery of disused and forgotten ones; analyse issues related to their promotion in terms of tourism development and legislative issues connected to their use and enhancement; propose new marketing strategies; define a network of connecting ecological infrastructures for the definition of routes for knowledge of the territory; qualify an interdisciplinary best practice methodological-operational protocol.
