Requisites and methods of registration or future SIRA members:

  • Effective Members. University professors and researchers (contract or full time)from the ICAR/19 Conservation/Restoration section,working with any University.. Effective Associates have voting rights in matters of approvals and modifications to the Statute.
    Interested parties must submit a request accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae and pay an annual registration fee;
  • Adherent Members.Italianor foreign personalities who have distinguished themselves for their work, studies and research in the field of Architectural Conservation. Adherent Members are exempt from payment of the annual fee and do not have voting rights. Interested parties must submit a request for association accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae and letters of presentation from at least three Effective Members;
  • Aggregate Members. PhD students, assignees of study grants and graduates of post-graduate schools in “Cultural and Landscape Heritage” able to demonstrate their research activities in the field of architectural restoration. Interested parties must submit a request for associationaccompanied by a Curriculum Vitae and letters of presentation from at leastthree Effective Members. The reduced membership fee will be used to finance initiatives reserved for this group of members (research awards, workshops, publications, etc.);
  • Honorary Members.Retired full timeuniversity professors and researchers from the ICAR/19 sector. These members are exempt from payment of the annual fee, do not have voting rights and may not hold positions within the society (with the sole exception of seats on the Board of Arbitration).

Membership fees are set each year during the General Assembly.
For the year 2021 the fee was set at €100 for Effective Members and €20 for Aggregate Members. Honorary and Adherent Members are exempt from payment of the annual fee.

SIRA [Società Italiana per il Restauro dell’Architettura] pursues the following objectives:

  • stimulating scientific and cultural exchanges among scholars in other disciplines;
  • safeguarding and stimulating pluralism in research;
  • organising national and international meetings, seminars, conferences, congresses;
  • any other initiative for communicating studies in the field of conservation and restoration;
  • building a point of reference and information centre about the activities of individual scholars and groups operating in the field of architectural and landscape conservation and restoration;
  • supporting the teaching of architectural restoration, at all levels of Italian education, by promoting the social and educational value of an awareness and conservation of architectural heritage;

  • communicating and promoting an awareness of themes and questions in the field of architectural restoration and, for these purposes, promoting opportune scientific and communications tools, including the tools of mass communication;
  • serving as an interlocutor with various institutions operating in different educational structures and ministries dealing with the conservation and restoration of architectural and landscape heritage, in particular, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, in all matters of education and research;
  • promoting relations with local, national and international bodies and institutions;
  • promoting the awareness and conservation of architectural heritage and its relative instruments and methods at various scales and at local, state, European and international levels.
